Social Responsibility

Policy agreement
RIGHT TO A SAFE WORKING SPACE

ABARNE takes its social responsibility seriously in protecting our staff from harassment from other staff, partners and/or customers as well as from partnering companies/organizations. Employed people that are producing or serving are also humans with emotions, dreams and hopes. Operating with responsibility and integrity, we aim to foster a positive atmosphere for our colleagues, guests and the communities we interact with. We are unwavering in our principles and the standard to which we expect from our fellow companies and citizens.

RIGHT TO A SAFE PUBLIC SPACE

At ABARNE we stand firmly against all forms of discrimination, believing that diversity is not just an asset but a catalyst for success. We are committed to championing for the equal value of all individuals and ensuring equal rights and opportunities for everyone, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, age etc.

Operating in a safe public space requires cooperation from everyone that is present in the public space. We have to lead the way and make sure that we all respect each others boundaries, because some people love reading books without being disturbed by the metallic sounds of a smartphone on a social media platform. We do this by enforcing public customer and user policies/agreements in our boutiques and online.

We protect our customers’ safety in our establishments by making sure that other customers and/or staff are not acting in a harmful/discriminating manner against one another. The customer and user policies/ agreements that are clearly displayed in our Boutiques are instated for everyone’s safety and comfort in the public space. Some people suffer from internal turmoil, and might just need an oasis where one can enjoy a delicacy or two, we need to protect these people’s interests as well. The policies/agreements might seem aggressive, but they are worded to avoid misinterpretation that might lead to unwanted results and complications.

TRANSPARENCY & KNOWLEDGE SPREADING

We believe that we have an educational responsibility where we need to grow with our community. ABARNE needs to acquire relevant information to support its staff, suppliers, producers as well as customers. Learning and sharing is fun, it is that essential part of us that makes us humans. We encourage critical thinking and discussions regarding the knowledge that we are spreading and acquiring.

THE SOCIAL CONTRACT

The social contract is a central and integral part of democracy as we know today. The idea, theory or model concerns the legitimacy of the authority and the state over the individual. The individuals that agrees with The social contract will surrender some of their freedoms and submit to the authority/leader in exchange for protection of their remaining rights and maintenance of social order.

This idea, theory or model has been subject to wide discussions and debates since the Greek philosophers time and was even mentioned in the Roman society. The modern version was refined by philosophers like Thomas Hobbes’s in his work ”Leviathan” (1651), John Locke (1689), Jean-Jaques Rosseau’s work ”Du contrat social ou Principles du droit Politique” (1762) and Immanuel Kant (1797).

Even though the contract can be defined as “an actual or hypothetical agreement among the members of an organized society or between a community that defines and limits the rights and duties of each”, we believe that companies as well as civilians need to understand our own personal part in the upkeep of the contract. For an authority to be able to actually provide safety, the people who have signed the contract will need to comply and make sure that other members of the society are following the same principles.

We believe that as a citizen of a society we all have equal rights but also equal obligations and responsibilities. No human is an island, we all have to pull our weight for the success of society, and it all starts with the small encounters in a shop, in the daily conversations with your neighbor and picking up that litter that someone else seemingly forgot.

IF ISSUES ARISES

Nobody is perfect, but we are always striving to become the best version of ourselves. We encourage our customers and guests to report any issue to ABARNE through any printed media such as; email, text or letter.
