ABARNE was created for the connoisseur, made by & for people who care about the details, origin & future.
In the 1960s, Arne & Vera made the choice to move into a renowned Haussmannian building, located in the heart of the pulsating city. A place where history met modernity, where the grandeur of the past framed the spirit of a new era. Like the visionary, Baron Georges-Eugene, the family wanted to move into the elevated future.
Grounded in the herringbone parquet flooring, dreams as high as the ceilings, ornaments that embellished the life, large windows to enlighten the spirit. A place full of modern furniture, the finest silver and china, bespoke and cherished souvenirs, a whisper of the Swedish Chamber orchestra, admiration for museums, unwavering love for culture and art.
Arne, the patriarch, an engineer in the shoe industry; was practical and precise, shaped by the industrial movement of his time, a traditionalist. Vera, the matriarch, was a chemist and a feminist, with a progressive worldview. She was a woman who embraced the beautiful and luxurious.
As most well established families in Sweden at that time strived for, Arne and Vera had a summer residence in the countryside, it was an oasis; a place to be rooted in nature’s stillness away from the bustling and ever moving city. As a woman of science, Vera loved to collect flowers and leaves that she carefully dried and pressed, to preserve for eternity in her own florilegium.
Together, Arne and Vera created a balance between the strength of the functional, and the refinement of the exquisite. Their story reflects not only the traditional life of a family, but the timeless harmony between the industrial and the extraordinary. ABARNE aims to build a future where the past acts like a vehicle for the future, where the functional meets the design,
ABARNE was founded and created by a couple in love, with a great passion for the finer things in life and a will to share the wonders of life with other like-minded people.
The Swedish cosmopolite and academic moved to Paris, the home of all beautiful and tasty things. While studying at University she worked alongside the great roasters of Alain Ducasse and Lomi. She frequented coffee shops like Terres de Cafe and Cafe de Flore. Of course she lived in a tiny flat with a view of the Eiffeltower and spent July 14th on top of a Haussmannian building right next to the Triumphal Arch.
One faithful event would change everything. The pandemic hit the world and the focus shifted, and there he was, an adventurous entrepreneur with an Austrian flare. A young national team athlete, a kind and considerate man ready to bring her along on an adventure of a lifetime.
After long travels, the couple decided to move back to their hometown to recuperate and start a new chapter. By happenstance or by fate, it just so happens that their first shop was located right by her grandparents, Arne and Veras dream apartment…
