This classic tea blend consists of sencha mixed with roasted brown rice that has partially popped just like popcorn. Genmaicha was originally made for the poorer population to dilute the teas & therefore decreased the price.
The puffed rice adds a warming & filling sensation that adds a beautiful layer to the sencha tea & the tea is easily matched with sushi, sashimi or chocolate. The sencha found in this blend was cultivated on a family owned farm in Kagoshima.
